@antejenn your friend is a moron.
i wouldn’t even peel the friken thing’s lol.
THANK YOU NANA
excellent!
The depression had a lasting effect on those who survived it’s many long, hard years. My grandmother was a product of the depression and she influenced the way I cook to this day. Waste not. Want not.
kool video
@JubilantMints As a man who cooks and a wife that cannot I agree with you – I cook , we eat well and Kim does the washing up.
@antejenn
I know more men who cook than women. Guess who has the power? The one who cooks!
Clara I liked your ‘”poorman’s meal, it reminded me how my Mother made “poor people’s ” food when I was a child. she made that potato almost the same way, but instead of sauce she put hungarian red pepper on the potato and poured water in just covered the food. It was GREAT and nobody could make that food how she did it , She died 8 months ago, she was 97 years old. I MISS HER A LOT. It was very nice to see your beautiful face on that video. THANK YOU, AND GOD BLESS YOU
I would be touchy too if my neighbor came over with a bag taking my food!!
I’d be more than touchy, I would freak out, gardens are hard work!! that’s evil!
@antejenn Well said!
Yummy!
Thanks Clara!
That grandma is adorable.
OMG I just made this for my family tonight. They are asking for MORE!!!!
I added some crushed Garlic, Sal, Pepper, Oregano, Parsley and a little Sesame Oil! Yummmyyyyyyy!!!
Thanks Depression Cook!!!
i’m going to cook that up tonight.Thanks.5 out of 5 stars.
Clara reminds me of my late gramma….how i miss her….thank-u Clara for your cooking delights that warm my heart!
you are the best
thank you for your time and video’s and thanks for sharing your wisdom
@antejenn Wow… Tell your friend that is like saying a woman should live in squalor and never tidy up her surroundings because cleaning is “a tool of the male-dominated…blah blah blah…” Give me a break!!! I’m glad you don’t see things that way. EVERYONE should know how to prepare themselves a hot meal and clean up after themselves. And, I think she’ll be waiting a long time for someone else to come along and do it all for her. That’s not realistic, unless she was born into royalty
you are an inspiration. i actualy made this and it was great. thank u
i make this same dish but i used eckridge smoked sausage. i cover it while cooking so the potatoes steam better and get done then i un cover then brown it all for flavor.
i use a mixture of butter and olive oil. probably tastes exacly the same
I’m definitely going to buy your book next time at the book store!
Granny, you’re AWESOME!
My grandma used to make this for me ALL THE TIME, but minus the hotdogs
She also grew up during this era. Thanks for the nostalgia!
is she dead?
im so glad that you are sharing your wisdom and putting it on this easy to access pretty much permanent information center
at least now its like a real meal
saved me from starving or being completely unsatisfied with a boiled potato and boiled hot dogs
